Movement and motion

The statue of the roadway and cars resembles implied motion. The cars are in the act of driving off the road but the action is not actually being completed. The motion of the cars driving off the roadway is implied based on what the viewer is interpreting of how the action is going to be completed. This is based on the direction the cars are facing on the road, how the cars are at the end of the road, and the focus towards the sky. This also relates to our basic knowledge of balance/ imbalance, movement leveraged by line, direction, and shape, and the idea we expect patterns and lines to always continue. Based on our prior experience of driving, cars, and roadways, we interpret this 35-meter high stature of 2 cars to be in the process of driving off into the sky.

This Statue of the two Big Rig Trucks resembles implied motion.  The tow Big Rigs are in the acts of rolling over one another but the action is not actually being completed.  The motion of the big rigs rolling over one another is implied based on what the view is interpreting of how the action is being completed. This is based on the direction of each big rig and how the big rigs are positioned amongst one another. This also relates to our basic knowledge of balance/ imbalance, movement leveraged by line, direction, and shape, and the idea we expect patterns and lines to always continue. Based on our prior experience of big rigs on the road and the action of vehicle accidents, we interpret these two big rigs will roll over eachother.

Tone and Color

The image shown is used part of the interior driver's side dash of an automotive passenger vehicle. An RPM Tachometer gauge is used to notify how fast the engine is spinning in revolutions per minute. The drive uses the information shown to know when to upshift or downshift to the next gear on the transmission shift selector.

Tone is dependent on context in relation to type design (font size). In this case in order for the driver to effectively view how fast the engine is spinning, a black background is needed to see the white number type and yellow increment dashes. Spatial layout is also needs to be taken into account. Tone is interacting with lines in order to show progression in scale. The proper tone is used to effectively see the increment of lines.

Color is used as a way to communicate to the user. In this case, red colored arrow is used to notify how fast the engine is spinning. As the engine rpm increases or decreases in speed, the arrow gradually goes up or down through each increasing or decreasing number.
